Planned Giving Officer

Job number: SUPP104667

Division/School: Development and Alumni Relations

Contract type: Open Ended

Working pattern: Full time

Salary: £29,515 - £33,199 per annum

Founded over a hundred years ago, the University of Bristol has revolutionised society with its cutting-edge research and education. An international powerhouse of learning, discovery and enterprise, the University’s excellence is acknowledged locally, nationally and globally. As a Russell Group university ranked in the top 50 universities in the world (QS 2018), Bristol’s future will be as remarkable as its past.

We are recruiting for a Planned Giving Officer to join our dynamic, highly respected and fast-growing Development and Alumni Relations (DARO) team. This new role is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly successful team at a time of growth to help ensure our future success by securing pledged funds through legacy gifts. Last year Legacy income to the University totalled £1.1m and we have a pipeline of over 500 pledgers and over £17m in pledged legacy gifts.

You will focus on cultivating strong relationships with existing and potential legacy pledgers by face-to-face meetings and personalised engagement to secure significant levels of legacy income both of a restricted and unrestricted nature to support University priorities.

As part of the Planned Giving team, you will contribute towards and implement a strategy that will deliver a programme of legacy engagement activities. This will also include securing lifetime gifts that arise out of discussions about future planned gifts, and involvement with In Memoriam giving.

In collaboration with colleagues across DARO, the role holder will identify new prospective legacy pledgers and assist and support the Planned Giving Manager in growing the prospect pool for the Planned Giving programme.

You will be a capable and confident fundraiser able to deal with a wide range of people and situations which may be emotional and sensitive in nature. You will be a great team player capable of managing your own workload, an excellent communicator both in person and in writing and you will be able to learn and then use basic legal knowledge relating to gifts in Wills. Finally, you will have a strong belief in the importance of universities to society, and a knowledge of the financial challenges facing the higher education sector and the role of philanthropy.

Closing date for applications: midnight on Sunday 25th November 2018.

The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
