One of the leading disabled person's charities is looking for a Communications Officer to join their team. After a restructure they are looking for someone who can hit the ground running. The job is a fixed term contract position for 4 months. But there is an opportunity of this becoming a permanent role for the right candidate.
You will report into the Director and will work collaboratively with wider team members.
As the Comms Officer, you will improve and maintain the organisation's communications processes driven by a motivation for equality and the rights of disabled people.
In addition, you will manage all the internal and external communications, as well as plan and manage the running of main projects and initiatives in an effective and successful manner.
You will also manage the website and ensure that its content is updated and manage the volunteers and freelance writers who provide the copy for this. As well as lead on the running and data analysis of the social media accounts and building the online community.
The appointed candidate will have:
- Excellent eye for detail and a great communicator.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with different stakeholders and beneficiaries.
- Ability to identify media opportunities and promote the organisation's work.
- Confidence to maintain and grow relationships with journalists and other influential media stakeholders.
