Job Details
The Brain and Spine Foundation was founded 26 years ago by Peter Hamlyn, a Consultant Neurosurgeon and President of the Charity, together with a group of leading neurologists and neurosurgeons. We are the only specialist charity in the UK whose aim is to improve the quality of life of people affected by neurological problems. Whilst neurological conditions are often considered rare, there are, in fact, over 350 different conditions of the brain and spine that together affect more than 12 million people in the UK. In many cases, these conditions have long-term impacts without the prospect of a cure. The simple reality is this: In the next 6 years, there is a 1 in 10 chance of turning to The Brain and Spine Foundation for help.
Position: Chief Executive Officer
Location: London
Salary: circa £70,000
Now is the time to chart a new course to take the charity to the next level. This is premised on four strategic imperatives – build the brand, increase our profile, accelerate fundraising and enhance our services. To ensure that this exciting ambition is realised, we are looking for a visionary and inspiring CEO that can take a great team and a vitally important purpose, to develop a new strategy and influence change with the urgency and energy that is required.
Experience required
-Significant senior management experience in a senior leadership role in the not-for-profit sector and/or relevant people-centred commercial businesses and within organisations of similar size or larger.
-A strong track record of successfully developing and delivering growth through strategic business plans, budgeting, financial management and marketing & awareness programs to achieve the vision and purpose of an organisation.
-Working with a Board of Trustees; understanding ways of working across governance and operations.
-Proven fundraising or income generation experience, ideally in the areas of corporate giving, trusts and foundations, individual giving and special event management.
-Previous experience leading and managing people and demonstrating personal commitment to organisational and staff development, including recruiting and coaching.
-A network of relationships coming from previous experience in the private and beyond profit sectors.
