Learning Support Assistant 

Our client manages a specialist School for children and young people aged 5 – 19, located within 68 acres of beautiful parkland between the towns of Harlow and Bishops Stortford. They exist to provide their students with an educational experience that will not only extend their academic skills and abilities, but will also promote personal growth and help to build self-esteem. 

Position: Learning Support Assistant 
Location: Perry Green, Much Hadham, Hertfordshire (Commutable from Bishop’s Stortford, Harlow, Saffron Walden, Stevenage, St Albans and surrounding areas) 
Job type: Part Time, Permanent 
Hours: 36 per week, term time only 
Salary: Level 1: £13,575 to £14,696 per annum; Level 2: £15,034 to £16,437 per annum

About the role: 

Everyday they carry out immeasurably worthwhile and rewarding work that although at times is challenging, continually enhances the lives of the young people that attend the school. Due to an increase in student numbers for the new academic year an exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistants to join their dedicated team. 

Responsibilities: 

- Assisting with the development and implementation of individual education / behaviour plans & personal care programmes 
- Helping to provide a specific and targeted curriculum through various strategies both in and out of the classroom 
- Supporting pupils / students to achieve learning goals 
- Promoting independence 
- Preparing, maintaining & using resources / equipment to meet lesson plans 

About you: 

You will be expected to demonstrate a willingness to support pupils / students who can display challenging behaviours and help to manage this in a positive way. You will need to have good literacy and numeracy skills and be able to communicate well with both children and adults. A commitment to equality and diversity, safeguarding and upholding the values and ethos of the Centre is essential. 

Experience of working within a special needs environment is desirable but not essential. A relevant qualification is not required for Level 1 LSA, but essential for Level 2 LSA, e.g. Level 3 SSTLiS or equivalent. You will be working Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year. 

You may have experience of the following: Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Special Education Needs, Social Worker, Learning Support, PGCE, Mentor, Tutor, Teacher, LSA, Special Needs, SEN, Support Worker, Teaching etc.
