Our client's Centre was founded in 1986; they offer a diverse range of services for homeless young people, families in need and the local community on one site. The Centre enables people to gain the skills and support they need to overcome poverty and homelessness. 

They have a person-focussed approach which encourages them to recognise that each human being is different with complex needs and so their response needs to be multi-layered. Therefore, the organisation has six principal service packages: residential services for homeless young people; family support; housing and welfare rights advice; employment support; learning (English and digital inclusion); and immigration advice and advocacy. 

Position: Central Services Officer 
Location: Westminster, London 
Job type: Part Time, 12 Months Fixed Term Contract 
Hours: 21 hours in a 24 hour week, 3 days per week82 
Salary: £26,066.78 per annum (£15,640.07 pro rata for 3 days a week) 
Benefits: Pro rata of full time 24 days, rising to 26 after one year’s service, and 28 after two years’ service; Pension; The Centre provides an auto-enrolment pension scheme and will match employee contributions up to a maximum of 6%. You can choose to opt out of the scheme. A Season Ticket Loan is available.

About the role: 

The Central Services Officer will provide reception and administrative support for key areas of work within the organisation. Efficient, calm and flexible, you enjoy interacting with people in a busy reception environment. 


Responsibilities: 

- Work on reception three days per week 
- Ensuring the first and continuing impact when people come to the Centre a warm and individual welcome 
- Answering the telephone, welcoming visitors, taking enquiries, passing messages, issuing temporary ID Badges and receiving deliveries 
- Sorting and distributing incoming post and organising and sending outgoing post 
- Take a leading role in providing a professional, efficient and flexible administrative service to the Centre as appropriate 

About you: 

- Ability to use a variety of software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Access etc., to produce correspondence, documents and maintain presentations, records, spreadsheets & databases 
- Comfortable and experienced in engaging with people from diverse backgrounds 
- Experienced in dealing flexibly with a wide range of demands whilst maintaining a warm, friendly approach 
- An efficient and calm organiser 
- Excellent interpersonal skills 
- Discretion and able to maintain confidentiality 
- Willingness to work flexibly including occasional work out of office hours 
- Ability to speak other language would be desirable
