The Society’s fundamental purpose, reflected in its founding Charters of the 1660s, is to recognise, promote, and support excellence in science and to encourage the development and use of science for the benefit of humanity.  Its current priorities are to promote excellent in science, support international collaboration and demonstrate the importance of science to everyone.

The Development team focuses on fundraising from high net worth individuals, charitable trusts and foundations, and corporate donors. Following the success of the 350th Anniversary Campaign, which raised in excess of £100m, the Royal Society has excellent donor support which requires creative and robust stewardship plans and cultivation strategies.

The successful candidate will help drive philanthropic support for the Royal Society through the provision of strategically aligned prospect management, prospect research, and donor stewardship. The post holder will form a part of a senior management group of the Development Team reporting to the Director of Development on important strategic issues including regulations, and will be responsible for managing the operational aspects of the team’s work. 

Reports to: Director of Development

Line manages: Research & Stewardship Officer, and Development Coordinator

Location: Carlton House Terrace, London

Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: £42,228 per annum

Pay band: E
