Job Details

A national education charity which empowers young people to challenge prejudice and discrimination is recruiting a Director of Education to lead all its frontline provision. This is a unique opportunity for a creative, ambitious education leader to take forward a highly regarded national programme. The post is a new one, aiming to develop the charity's existing programmes and extend them to new regions of the UK. It also involves creating new projects and courses, including an ambition to engage young people, especially those aged 13 to 15, as leaders of the charity and as national spokespeople against prejudice.

As someone with extensive experience of teaching and education management, you will ensure excellent learning and safeguarding practice across the organisation, while using your energy and can-do approach to innovate, e.g. through digital channels and peer education.

The charity is at an exciting point in its history, with a new chief executive generating a new forward strategy for growth. You will be part of the senior management team based in London, and manage a team of 8 regional managers, whom you will support and develop with frequent travel around the country.

This role also requires you to have substantial experience beyond the classroom - such as paid or voluntary experience in a charity. You will have a track record of developing new projects or ways of working, be familiar with managing Government contracts or reporting to funders and other stakeholders, and be familiar with monitoring and evaluation practice.

You will be passionate about empowering young people and working in disadvantaged communities, and deeply committed to diversity and equality. Although not an essential criteria, we actively encourage applications from people who have personally experienced prejudice and discrimination and will use this experience to make a real difference in this charity's area of work.
