About the role:

The organisation seeks a dynamic and experienced Senior Trusts and Foundations Officer to join the trusts and foundations team. This role will be key to leading on the development of our client's medium to large trusts and foundations programme in England, Wales and Scotland, contributing to delivering an overall income of £805k from this funding stream in 2019.

Responsibilities:

- Build and manage the organisation's relationships with medium-large trusts and foundations (grants of £20k-100k)
- Undertake research and networking to ensure new prospects are identified and developed
- Plan, design and submit compelling applications to medium-large trusts and foundations, based on a clear
understanding of programmes, funding needs and donor requirements
- Plan, design and submit progress reports and if necessary detailed financial reports to trusts and foundations
- Support the Trusts and Foundations Manager with management of relationships with very large / strategic UK
and EU trusts and foundations
- Develop a strong understanding of Concern’s overseas work to properly engage with donors and stakeholders
- Liaise with the International Programmes department and Overseas Information Officer to develop a funding strategy for medium-large trusts
- Co-ordinate and work closely with colleagues from the US and ROI offices who mainly fundraise from foundations and corporates, whilst working closely with other fundraising departments
- Co-ordinate and work closely with communications staff in London and ROI to develop and deliver on tailored
communications strategies for key trusts and foundations
- Present Concern’s activities to trusts and foundations and represent Concern at external meetings
- Assist the Trusts and Foundations Manager with the development of the annual trusts fundraising plan, looking at income and expenditure forecasts on an annual, three and five year basis to deliver significant income growth
- Build relationships with Trustees and key Concern Worldwide personnel, so as to be an effective link between
them and key partnerships and donors
- Monitor income levels from portfolio of trusts and feed into departmental budget
- Assist the Trusts and Foundations Manager with monthly fundraising reports, management accounts, etc
- Ensure fundraising database is kept up-to-date, donors receive timely thanking and receipts and donations are
coded correctly

About you:

- 2 years’ experience raising funds from trusts and foundations and / or statutory donors, preferably in the
international development sector. Candidates from outside of the charity sector with equivalent experience
and transferable skills will be considered
- Excellent communication skills, both written and Verbal and ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally
- Proven track record in writing successful funding applications
- Experience of managing reporting to trust or institutional donors
- Proven track record of coordinating complex processes across teams, including managing laterally or upwards
- Degree-level education
- Proven ability of working on own initiative, meeting objectives and tight deadlines
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to work systematically and thoroughly in preparing funding applications and donor reports
- Demonstrable numeracy skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Experience using ThankQ or other fundraising database
- Ability and confidence to represent the organisation to potential and existing funders

Desirable:

- Degree level qualification in international development
- Experience of working in an INGO and / or a development charity within a trusts and foundations fundraising
setting
- Experience of working overseas
- Experience of working remotely with colleagues in the developing world
- Experience of preparing and maintaining budgets
