Job Details
Our client is a London based charity aiming to prevent homelessness. They work closely with vulnerable and socially excluded people to help transform their lives. They are currently looking to recruit a number of Lead Outreach Workers to assist rough sleepers to access support services and accommodation, working within the No Second Night Out framework and the Redbridge Places of Change Pathway. These positions are offered on a full-time (37.5 hours), temporary basis initially for 2-3 months.
As a Lead Outreach Worker, you will coordinate and deliver a street-based outreach service to identify, verify and support rough sleepers in Redbridge. As such, you will plan and organise street outreach shifts, based on referrals and mapping information received, to identify and verify rough sleepers in the area, as well as planning and organising annual street counts, to conduct local mapping of hotspot areas and to compile data on rough sleeper population. Your duties will also entail delivering initial street-based assessments to new rough sleepers and follow up assessment to existing rough sleepers. You will support rough sleepers by ensuring that referrals are made to relevant services and accommodation through the Redbridge Pathway, in line with local objectives and targets.
To be successful, you must have experience of working in an Outreach or Floating Support capacity, supporting rough sleepers or homeless clients, either in a volunteer or paid position. You will possess the ability to deliver a sensitive, client-centred support service to rough sleepers presenting with complex needs, and have the capability to implement action plans through high-quality risk and needs assessment. You will have a sound knowledge and current understanding of safeguarding issues and thorough understanding of the needs of homeless individuals and rough sleepers. Overall, you are a self motivated, hard working with excellent communication skills.
The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly via a combination of early (ideally 5am - 1:30pm), late (ideally 10pm 4am) and night shifts. You will be responsible for organising your own shift schedule (due to the nature of the shift pattern, the client is flexible)
To be considered, you must be available immediately and be in possession of a fully enhanced DBS check that is registered to the online update service.
