Job Details
Our client, SCT is a charity based in East London. For 50 years, SCT has provided practical help, support, and training to people who have been homeless or suffering from addiction, poverty or social exclusion. They are currently looking to recruit a Support Worker to assist the Supported Housing Team, ensuring service users are safe, secure and maintain their tenancy, as well as help develop skills and confidence in service users to achieve independent living.
As their Support Worker, you will provide one to one support and intervention to homeless individuals who have an addiction, to provide a safe and supportive environment for service users to make positive change and support recovery. Reporting to the Supported Housing Manager, you will be responsible for a caseload of service users and will support them towards a life of recovery and away from the street by assessing their support needs and provide on-going, regular reviews. Providing a person-centered service, you will ensure their fundamental needs are met; good quality accommodation and facilities, healthy food, benefits help and advice, medical help and support, and finally, maintaining the abstinence and support based environment.
To be successful, you will have previous experience of working in a similar supported housing environment, combined with the ability to support clients presenting complex needs. Given the nature of the role, you will have experience managing challenging behaviour and have the knowledge of issues that affect people with substance abuse/addiction. Finally, you will have knowledge of the criminal justice and welfare benefits system and possess demonstrable experience of carrying out assessment and key work sessions. Overall, our client is looking for someone who has excellent interpersonal skills with great communication abilities, and high levels of administrative, recording and reporting skills.
Please apply by providing a Word version copy of your CV; cover letters are not required at this stage  Â
