Head of Communications 

Our client’s Communications Team lead the delivery of audience focused communications through appropriate channels, increase patient engagement in research and are crucial to playing their role in continuous improvement across the charity. It leads on all their communications work, developing their digital channels and website and provides the support for both internal and external communications of the charity. 

They have grown substantially in recent years, have bigger plans for the future and they need a highly motivated, passionate, enthusiastic, open minded and creative Head of Communications to join them. 

Position: Head of Communications 
Location: Nene Hall, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire (Commutable from Stamford, Oundle, Huntingdon, Chatteris, Spalding, Northampton and surrounding areas) 
Contract type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: 37.5 hours per week 
Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 depending on experience

About the role: 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced communications professional to lead the strategic and day to day development and delivery of their communications, web and digital, and patient engagement activity. 

Responsibilities: 

- The development and delivery of a communications and research engagement strategy which supports their mission, enables growth, and enhances their presence and influence in the sector and beyond 
- Leading proactive and reactive communications to both internal and external audiences 
- Working with their Supporter Care, Fundraising, Research and Development teams to ensure we have a systematic, successful and sustained approach to all stakeholder engagement 
- Developing and leading their programme to get more patients involved in research and their work 
- Building on the existing Public Affairs activity, to ensure that the outcomes of their Research is visible across the relevant sectors. 

About You: 

The successful applicant must be experienced in developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy, committed to managing and developing a highly-skilled, multi-disciplined team, and leading both internal and external communication activity. 

You will need to have experience of managing and developing teams. You will be knowledgeable of current trends in communications, the charity sector and emerging themes. With excellent organisational, financial and communication skills, you should be determined, professional and able to work in a fast-paced environment to deliver communications which exceed all our audiences’ expectations. 

Reporting to the Director of Communications and Fundraising, you need to be a strong team player who can work on their own initiative.
