Relief Support Worker

Our client is an organisation that provides a range of housing and varied support services to vulnerable people. Their aim is to support people in achieving their full potential. They are currently going through a large period of growth and have vacancies for Relief Support Workers
Position: Relief Support Worker
Location: St Austell, Cornwall (Commutable from Fowey, Bodmin, Newquay, Truro, Padstow and surrounding areas)
Contract type: Permanent
Hours: Various including waking night (Zero Hours Contracts)
Salary: £10.22 per hour
Benefits: 26 days’ annual holiday rising a day a year for the first 5 years + bank holidays, Life Assurance, Pension scheme and an Employee Health Assistance Programme. Professional development opportunities and flexible working arrangements.

About the role:
As a Support Worker for our client you will effectively support the management of an assigned caseload contingent on needs, strengths, abilities and preferences of the service user served.
You will provide effective support for service users involved in the service. You will possess clear understanding of the service delivery and resources available for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, ensuring that all service users and their children are given the security and support to maximise their independence, dignity and choice in accordance with the aims of the project.
Essential Skills / Experience:
- Excellent assessment skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills
- Problem solving skills and ability to demonstrate flexible working to overcome barriers
- Able to analyse and produce reports for presentation in a variety of formats
- A non-judgemental approach to working with homeless people
- Willingness to work outside of normal hours
Desirable Skills / Experience:
- Housing association legislation
- Knowledge of community and volunteer resources
- Knowledge of supporting people legislation
- Experience of working in the Integrated Offender management Arena
A Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Certificate will be required for these roles.
