Established in 2017, the CareTech Charitable Foundation is an independent grant-making corporate foundation registered with the Charity Commission. Funded and founded by CareTech plc, the Foundation has an independent Board of trustees responsible for delivering its Charitable Objects. Job Title: Grants Officer- Maternity Cover

Responsible to: Foundation Manager

Location: Potters Bar, Hertfordshire

Position: Part time - 3 days per week (starting January 2019)

Salary: £25,000 Pro rata

We are looking for a Grants Officer with experience of grant making to join the team. You will be involved in all aspects of the grants assessment and grants management processes, as well as more general finance support. We are looking for someone with good organisational skills, financial management experience, strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

Key responsibilities

A) Grants management and co-ordination

 Providing advice and support to grant applicants and recipients

 Management of grants including: scheduling payments and reviewing progress to ensure compliance with grant agreements

 Managing and keeping accurate records of applications and payments

 Giving information and recommendations to the decision making panel

B) Communications

 Acting as the initial contact for both staff and organisations seeking funding from the Trust

 Responding to funding, grant application, and beneficiary enquires by phone, e-mail and letter

 Working with external stakeholders

 Communicating with sponsors and donors of each grant and supporting their stewardship

 Producing and presenting recommendations and reports for decision-making committees

 Take on specific research in relation to current funding priorities or potential new areas of activity as required

 Supporting with coordinating and updating Foundation’s website and social media

C) Financial Administration

 Managing and administering of grant payments

 Keeping accurate records of applications and payments

 Supporting on budget management

 Day-to-day financial record-keeping

Essential Skills and Experiences 

Experience in a grant -making role and an understanding of the issues involved in distributions of grants

 Demonstrable experience of administrative work

 Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written for a diverse range of audiences

 Working with external stakeholders

 Good accounting and budget management

 Ability to analyze complex information

 Excellent team working skills

 Excellent time management skills
