Education Training Coordinator
Fight for Peace is an innovative international charity that uses boxing and martial arts together with personal development programmes, to support young people living in communities affected by violence. Founded in Rio de Janeiro in 2000, in response to the arming and employment of young people affected by drug trafficking, the charity was replicated in London in 2007 to help combat rising youth gang violence in the UK. Their methodology and approach has been consolidated over 15 years of delivery experience and today is a comprehensive, holistic service that includes boxing and martial arts, education, job training, mentoring and youth services, and youth leadership; reaching thousands of young people annually. Building on their work in London and Rio, Fight for Peace International (FFPI) was founded in 2010 to extend the organisation's impact beyond Rio and London, building partnerships, sharing methodology, and creating a community of likeminded 'Alliance' organisations in order to scale responses to youth crime and violence.
The Education Training Coordinator is a new, exciting role for Fight for Peace International and will play a key role in strengthening Alliance members to more effectively and sustainably work with young people most at risk of exclusion and involvement in crime and violence. This is a multi-faceted role and as such will involve i) codifying FFP's alternative education 'Pathways' programme; ii) rolling out this programme to five selected Alliance members in the UK, delivering a 12 month tailored package of training to them; iii) sharing best practice and fostering links across the Alliance network in 25 countries to support the growth and development of the Alliance itself. More broadly, the post holder will actively contribute to the Alliance team which works together to foster a dynamic community of practice in the UK and across the wider international Alliance. The Education Training Coordinator will also have the opportunity to be involved in new training and consultancy approaches as they continue to develop in the role.
To apply for this exciting opportunity, you must be a confident, dynamic and collaborative training professional with previous experience of leading the design and delivery of alternative education programmes. You must have demonstrable experience of delivering training workshops to diverse groups of people, and of delivering consultancy-style interventions for a variety of organisations. You must be a skilled relationship-builder with significant experience of partnership working both internally and externally and must come with an understanding of small, local organisations working on the ground in communities. Finally, success in this role will require a proven track record of fundraising and partnership development, preferably in the UK social sector, and a clear understanding and belief in the values of Fight For Peace.
Please apply by submitting your CV in Word Format (cover letters are not required at this stage).
Please note that this opportunity will involve significant travel around the UK, equating to approximately 20% of the post holder's time.
Interviews to take place week commencing Monday 26th November.
