Development Officer (Fundraising) 

Our client is looking to appoint an outstanding candidate to the role of Development Officer to help achieve their funding and growth targets as the charity embarks on an ambitious new three-year strategy. 

They are a youth social action charity which challenges 18 to 25-year-olds to tackle educational inequality through a year of full-time voluntary service. As mentors, tutors and role models in schools, they support pupils growing up in some of the most disadvantaged communities in the UK. 

The experience empowers this exceptional and diverse group of young people to realise their aspirations and grow as leaders, both through their impact on children’s lives and through training, coaching and career development opportunities. 

About the role: 

Our client is looking to appoint an exceptional Development Officer to enhance and grow its fundraising income from corporates to support the organisation’s ambition for growth.

Reporting to the Development Manager (Corporate) and working closely with the Deputy Chief Executive, the Development Officer will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and securing new corporate prospects, managing a pipeline of sector led approaches to secure a funding target of £60,000. The DO will also have a joint focus on providing excellent stewardship and account management to a portfolio of existing corporate donors to ensure renewal (re-up) of partnerships ranging from £25,000 to £75,000. 

About you: 

The ideal candidate will relish the opportunity of working in a young, dynamic organisation and be a confident individual who enjoys generating leads, client meetings, relationship management, enhancing and promoting the organisation and the impact it has on young people and children. Experience of working with / engaging young people desirable. 

You will have significant fundraising and development experience with a demonstrable history of securing monetary donations. With excellent oral and written skills in relation to the production of letters, applications, reports and publications you will also have excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills. 

This role requires someone with strong interpersonal, relationship building and presentational skills with an ability to engage with a wide range of audiences and someone with good communication skills to motivate / advise / negotiate or persuade. 

You will be a competent user of Microsoft Office software (Google Docs and Drive preferred) and have database management experience, knowledge of Salesforce would be preferred.

Location: Angel, Islington, London with occasional travel to Greater Manchester and the West Midlands 
Job type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: Normal office hours are 9am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, but the post-holder may be required to be flexible. 
Salary: £25,600 to £28,800 per annum, dependant on experience, with up to 5% employer pension contributions 
Benefits: 25 days holiday per year plus one additional day per year after two years of employment, capped at a maximum of 28 days, and a range of other great benefits.
