Director of Marketing & Communications

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a full time Director of Marketing & Communications to join the senior leadership team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity.

 SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, supports the person behind the uniform; any time they need us, in any way they need us, for as long as they need us. Every year, SSAFA helps more than 73,000 people from the Forces family to get back on their feet; those currently serving, reserves, veterans and their families. Support is there for people at any stage in their military career; from the youngest recruit to the oldest veteran - no one's service is ever forgotten. We give hope, help and personal support for as long as it takes to get that person's life back to where they want it to be.

 About the role

We are seeking a creative and strategic Director of Marketing & Communications to develop and execute effective and results-driven marketing & communications activities, which raise the profile of SSAFA with potential beneficiaries, donors, supporters and other stakeholders.  The enthusiastic and high performing team is made up of marketing & brand, public relations and digital marketing specialists.

 You will work with colleagues across the organisation to develop integrated marketing and communications strategies and to maximise all supporter and stakeholder experiences.  You will also lead on crisis communications and reputation management issues.

 Requirements

 To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of:

  • Developing and delivering innovative and impactful marketing and communications strategies
  • managing digital transformation projects, including a cross-channel digital approach to integrated campaigns
  • Developing and delivering stakeholder engagement programmes at a senior level
  • Leading, motivating, managing and developing high performing teams and supporting professional development.

You will be an excellent communicator, comfortable working with a range of stakeholders to improve understanding of SSAFA's work and services with key external audiences.  You will be aware of the latest trends, relevant legislation and best practice so that our marketing and communications activities remain innovative and safe.
