Head of Transformational Philanthropy
The Voltaire Foundation, University of Oxford
Competitive Salary

The Voltaire Foundation at the University of Oxford seeks a talented fundraiser for this exciting new opportunity.

Working closely with the Director of the Foundation as well as a highly experienced and engaged Development Council, the Head of Transformational Philanthropy will have overall responsibility for the creation a vibrant fundraising operationwith a particular focus on major gifts.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a proven fundraiser who would relish establishing and building a development programme for an organisation with significant fundraising potential. Prior experience in establishing and building effective fundraising strategies along with working with philanthropic individuals will be instrumental in driving the future success of the development strategy.

The Voltaire Foundation is an organisation with a unique mission. A research institute at Oxford dedicated wholly to the study of the 18th century and the values of the European Enlightenment.  The study and dissemination of this research is more important and relevant to the world we live in than ever before.  At a time when the concept of Europe is a huge political issue and the mood against expert opinion, the study of the Enlightenment values that Europeans hold in common acquires a new significance and a new urgency.

This position of Head of Transformational Philanthropy is an exciting and hands-on post which would suit an achievement-driven individual with the gravitas and intellect required to operate effectively at a senior level. Essential prerequisites include a track record of establishing and achieving fundraising targets through securing major gifts; the ability to understand and clearly articulate the aims and needs of the Foundation; experience of initiating and building productive relationships; excellent negotiating and influencing skills; strong organisational skills; and an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

This is an outstanding career opportunity for an individual with ambition, drive and enthusiasm – who would enjoy working with a hugely engaged leadership team.
