Senior Director, Communications & Fundraising

Employer
Fauna & Flora International (FFI)
Location
Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
Salary
Salary negotiable
Closing date
25 Nov 2018

This is a new role, positioned within the Senior Management Team, taking on line-management of high-performing, but relatively small, teams of fundraising, marketing and communications staff who currently report to the Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chief Executive. As Senior Director of Communications & Fundraising you will ensure that these teams are working in coordination and you will play a pivotal role in helping deliver growth in income, increase brand awareness and profile, and reach to global target audiences.

FFI has a relatively small but high value supporter base with excellent retention. Your opportunity will be to develop a coordinated and integrated communications and fundraising strategy in order to significantly grow the supporter base and its lifetime value, while not diminishing the credibility and trust that are implicit in our brand. Your leadership will increase the impact of the array of talented fundraisers across the organisation. The Chief Executive Officer remains the strategic and operational lead for relationship management with key high value donors, and the Head of Philanthropy and Global Development Executive work closely with the Chief Executive Officer to that effect, reporting operationally to him on work delivery. Fundraising and relationship management with statutory sources is embedded within the programme structure, and programme teams also support relationships with major professional trusts, foundations and individual supporters. Your opportunity is to provide leadership and create greater synergy across all of FFI’s fundraising and communications activities, enabling the different strands of our effort to build genuine, long-lasting and rewarding relationships. You will understand the wider role that communications plays in underpinning reputation, brand and wider conservation objectives; at a time of increased focus on marketing and profile development, your experience will enhance the skills within our expanding communications and supporter engagement teams. You will assist our teams to amplify the impact of our conservation work through increased visibility, while also helping manage the concomitant risk.

Founded in 1903, FFI is the world’s longest established international conservation organisation. Our vision is to create a sustainable future for the planet where biodiversity is conserved by the people living closest to it. We aim to do this through the conservation of threatened species and ecosystems worldwide, choosing solutions that are sustainable, based on sound science and take account of human needs. We have become a trusted entity in the world of conservation. Today FFI is active in over 40 countries.

Our headquarters are located in The David Attenborough Building in central Cambridge, just a few minutes’ walk from glorious historic buildings and museums, the picturesque River Cam, the central market and shopping centre, and a host of cafés and restaurants.
