About the role:

The organisation is looking for an Events Manager to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the bar and event operations of York Hall in Bethnal Green. York Hall is a neo-Georgian, grade II listed building in the heart of east London. The venue is internationally known for hosting professional boxing events but is also a respected conference and live music venue. This role falls within their venues business division - one of the organisation’s fastest-growing areas.

You’ll thrive on making the clients and guests feel special whether they’re high-profile, public figures or not. This is a largely hands-on role where you’ll provide support to the wider events team, as well as to clients before, during and after events with the view to retaining their business on the back of their excellent service.

You’ll be part of a team that you’ll inspire with your accuracy around health and safety procedures, security, operations and stock management. With bar sales making up a large percentage of overall income, it will be your remit to ensure sales targets are met and service is always of a high standard. Promoting the centre as a venue of choice, you’ll need to be on the ball with all aspects of your centre, location and the leisure industry as a whole – from managing teams to consumer trends. In return, they’ll develop and train you to sharpen your skills in this diverse Events Manager role.

Your previous experience working in the events industry will have taught you that this isn’t a 9-5 job. With events running late into the night, you could be working shifts that don’t finish until 3am where you’ll be expected to close the building.

About you:

As you’ll provide the overall leadership and management of the events at York Hall, you’ll have proven experience of managing and running events at a high-profile venue. You’ll be comfortable both managing and delegating to stakeholders at all levels from senior personnel and head office to your local venue support team.

Friendly and likeable but able to command respect, you’ll be confident giving tours of the venue to potential clients / customers, answering phones, managing a team of events assistants and planning duty rotas. Ideally, you’ll have a mix of operational and sales experience from an event or bar-related background. It would be beneficial, although not crucial, for you to be a Personal Licence holder and have a First Aid at Work qualification.

You may have experience of the following: Events Manager, Event Management, Event Manager, Events Coordinator, Senior Events Coordinator, Event Executive, Project Manager, Project Management, Programme Manager, Programme Management, Marketing Manager, Marketing Communications, Marketing Communications Manager, Sales Manager, Business Development, Leisure, Hospitality, Hospitality Manager, Venue Manager, etc.
