Leading Children's Charity looking to grow the Major Gifts fundraising team by bringing in an excellent Development Manager
Description
Raise an annual target in the region of £1 million for the Charity with a focus on securing donations of £10,000+ from major donors by initiating and developing long-term relationships between supporters and the Charity
Develop and implement informed solicitation and stewardship plans for a portfolio of donors and prospects across the range of fundraising priorities including individuals and charitable foundations both in the UK and internationally.
Support the ongoing communication and stewardship programme for major donors seeking out opportunities to actively promote the impact of Charity's work to past supporters and inspire future involvement.
Work with the Grants team and other colleagues to identify and translate project information into compelling major donor fundraising and stewardship materials.
Work closely with the team's Fundraising Researchers to help identify and bring new prospects to the attention of the team and ensure due diligence processes are followed.
Contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the MGF team by:
Contributing to annual planning and reporting processes
Maintaining written and electronic records of donors, in line with legislation
Reporting against income and ensuring high standards of accountability
Securing income against existing pledges
Undertaking your own administration
Work towards a fully integrated fundraising charity in collaboration with the other members of the MGF team and other fundraising teams.
Profile
Minimum of two years' experience of major gift fundraising with an excellent track record of initiating new relationships, securing gifts in excess of £10,000 and managing long-term philanthropic support
Excellent verbal communicator with great interpersonal skills: flexing to suit different audiences, open and approachable, able to build rapport with colleagues, donors and volunteers
Strong written skills across a variety of media and formats with the ability to adapt communications effectively to suit a range of donors
A professional solutions-focused approach to making effective decisions, applying critical thinking to weigh up risks and challenges
Enterprising 'can do' attitude with the ability to react quickly and flexibly in order to adapt to change or capitalise on new opportunities
Excellent IT Skills - Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Commitment to personal learning, development and improvement in pursuit of team and personal objectives and to the Charity's values
