WellChild, based in the centre of Cheltenham, is the national charity for sick children. We fund programmes and services to care for and support children and young people who are living with serious illness or have exceptional health needs.

Due to the retirement of the current post-holder, a unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for an innovative, resourceful and determined individual to join our high-profile and fast-paced organisation and deliver WellChild’s flagship charitable programmes. Experience of working at a senior strategic level within the health, public or charitable (or similar) environment combined with the knowledge and understanding of current issues, policy and priorities within the children’s health sector, is preferred.

This is a diverse and challenging role responsible for the planning, implementation, delivery, day-to-day management and on-going development of the majority of the organisation’s direct charitable programmes, services and campaigns – putting key areas of the recently published WellChild strategy into practice.

The successful candidate will be an exceptional leader with the vision and ability to inspire, manage and develop teams. You will have outstanding communication skills, be able to develop strong and positive relationships, work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, and represent and advocate at the highest levels and with key decision makers.

As this is a Senior Management Team position reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will also be experienced in working as part of a successful and progressive leadership team and have the ability to build and maintain relationships and trust quickly and effectively.

This post is primarily based in Cheltenham but will involve some travel throughout the UK.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religious belief, sexual orientation or age.
