IRC-UK

Our European headquarters, IRC-UK, were established in London in 1997 to support the organization’s global activities and particularly to diversify its donor base and be able to better advocate with European policy-makers on behalf of the people we serve. Since its establishment IRC-UK has grown rapidly and is now acknowledged for its high quality project management, technical expertise in governance and rights and economic recovery, and innovative thinking on early recovery and gender based violence. The IRC also has offices in Berlin, Brussels and Geneva.

IRC-UK comprises approximately 110 staff across five departments.

The IRC has invested significantly in the UK fundraising team which has increase its capacity considerably over the past three years. There are ambitious plans to increase this even further as part of an exciting global revenue generation strategy in development. This is therefore an exciting time to join an award winning, fact paced, dynamic team with ambitious but achievable targets. 

This role sits in the UK Private Fundraising Team, working alongside a Digital Fundraising Team consisting of four Digital Fundraisers (mass market).

The Purpose of the Role

The Mid-Level Fundraising Executive will report to the UK Head of Digital Fundraising and form part of a small team of five mass marketing fundraisers. This role will focus on recruiting, cultivating and upgrading mid-value giving donors in the UK market.

The post holder will play a key role in helping the IRC achieve its objectives to increase supporter life time value in the UK.

Authority:

The post holder has authority to make implementation decisions regarding the on recruiting, cultivating and upgrading mid-value giving donors in the UK market.

Responsibility for Resources:

This position has no line management responsibility

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES 

Producing Results (60%)

  • Responsible for implementing Mid-Level Giving programme, which involves stewarding donors through their supporter journeys in a personalised and bespoke way.
  • Generate an annual income of £200K in FY19 from individuals who donate gifts of £1K-£5K
  • Develop new donor and upgrade appeals from conceptualisation, audience targeting, tactics, messaging, thanking, through to reporting.
  • Working collaborative with the UK Digital Fundraising Executives, manage and implement email marketing supporter journeys to cultivate and upgrade supporters to enhance their life-time value 
  • Thanking Mid-Level donors (via phone, email and mail) for donations and respond swiftly to any communications they have sent in.
  • Organise Mid-Level Giving events and online webinars to cultivate donors
  • Building relationships with donors at events, meetings, online, over the phone and in writing

Reporting and Optimisation (20%)

  • Test and refine engagement tactics to maximize life-time value
  • Help ensure that KPIs are measured and regularly reviewed to enhance performance
  • In collaboration with the UK Strategic Operations Team, provide regular real-time status reports on Mid-Level Giving programme performance to provide insights for future activity

Supporting change (10%)

  • Work collaboratively to embed mid-level giving best practice with European and global digital fundraising strategies to maximize sustainable net income
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the UK and globally to maximize fundraising opportunities and financial returns
  • Work with team to ensure fundraising practices are compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Monitor developments and trends in digital fundraising
  • Contribute to overall strategic and financial planning as required
  • Participate in team meetings and events
  • Carry out other duties as required to maximize fundraising income

  • Work to ensure retention programme is on brand and of the highest quality
  • Be a key member of the UK Private Fundraising team demonstrating commitment, integrity and accountability to the “IRC Way” – IRC Global Standards for Professional Conduct

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications:

Essential

  • Confident and able to apply a broad range of communication and interpersonal skills (both verbal and written) to provide a high level of service to mid-value supporter supporters
  • Excellent understanding of mid and high value fundraising progammes
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, to deal effectively, efficiently and appropriately with internal and external audiences
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to manage a complex, varied workload, able to plan and prioritise tasks
  • Proven ability using analytics to inform and influence decision-making
  • Able to understand and demonstrate commitment to IRC’s Equal Opportunities Policy and to ensure all activities are consistent with Equal Opportunities

Desirable

  • Understanding of fundraising practices, codes of conduct and legislation
  • Good IT skills including CRM systems, digital marketing tools such as Silverpop (or equivalent email marketing software), AdWords and Microsoft packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Good financial and numeracy skills
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

Experience:

Essential

  • A demonstrable track record of supporting the development of Mid-Level Giving programmes to cultivate, retain and upgrade supporters
  • Experienced in communicating with supporters or customer service/communicating with members of the public and dealing with enquiries
  • Experienced in working in a team whilst managing personal deadlines
  • Experience of managing supporter information on a fundraising database
  • Experience of working collaboratively with members of a fundraising team and across departments

Desirable

  • Experience in digital fundraising techniques 
  • Experience using SalesForce
  • Experience of working in a complex, global organization

Language Skills: English (fluent).
