Job Details
Barts Charity’s vision is extraordinary healthcare for all. As one of the UK’s oldest and largest endowed foundations, we fund ground-breaking medical research, state-of-the-art equipment and innovative healthcare projects not otherwise funded by the NHS. Whilst our projects are based in North and East London, our outcomes often have national and international impact.
Chief Financial Officer
Barts Charity
London
£100,000
We are at an important and exciting moment in the Charity’s history. Two years ago we embarked on a new and ambitious strategy to make a real difference to London and beyond by increasing our grant giving to £30m p.a. to 2020. We have now extended this commitment to 2022 due to the high level of demand for our support and the exciting projects and outcomes in progress. Our ambition is to maintain this level of giving from 2023 onwards however to do this we need to maximise income both from our investment portfolio and from our voluntary fundraising activities.
We are looking to recruit a CFO who will help develop and deliver the next stage of our financial and charitable strategy. Working closely with a highly experienced executive team plus a Board of Trustees and Investment Committee made up of respected finance and City professionals, you will lead a team that will safeguard Barts Charity’s assets and fulfil regulatory requirements, whilst importantly using the assets that we are so fortunate to have to further the Charity’s strategic goals.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will be an important member of the senior team and will bring strategic vision and the ability to build close working relationships with the Charity’s finance and investment advisers, as well as with senior teams within our key partners. A qualified Accountant, you will also bring experience of developing a finance function that acts as an enabler and business partner across different organisational functions. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is excited by the impact of what we fund and is focused on making things happen.
Whilst this is a full time role, we are open to considering flexible or part time hours for outstanding candidates.
