Position:Helpline Adviser / Join Dementia Research Helpline Adviser 
Location: London, EC3N 2AE 
Contract type: Full time, Permanent 
Hours: 35 per week 
Salary: £25,951 actual per annum

About the role: Helpline Adviser (National Dementia Helpline) 

As a Helpline Adviser (National Dementia Helpline) you will be expected to provide one day per month of evening / weekend cover with time off in lieu. 

Our National Dementia Helpline responds to over 40,000 telephone, email, web chat, social media and letter enquiries every year, and demand is growing. Our Helpline Advisers provide personalised information and advice on a wide range of dementia related topics, as well as emotional support to people who contact the Society’s Helpline service. We are looking for another Helpline Adviser to join our team, working 3 days per week. 

About the role: Helpline Adviser (Join Dementia Research) 

The Join Dementia Research online database matches people to research studies in which they may be eligible to take part. Our Join Dementia Research (JDR) helpdesk supports people affected by dementia who would struggle to register themselves by providing a telephone registration service. We are looking for a Helpline Adviser to join our small JDR team, working 2 days per week. You will support the JDR Supervisor in the day to day running of the Helpdesk service, be a first point of contact for service users and work alongside our volunteers in carrying out registration appointments. 

About you: 

You will specifically want the variety that will come with taking on two separate roles. 

You will have direct experience and knowledge of working in a helpline service and an understanding of relevant social policy, welfare rights, health and social care issues that affect people living with dementia. You will have an interest in research, particularly into dementia. 

You will have strong IT skills and well developed written communication skills with substantial experience of responding to helpline enquiries in written formats. 

Applicants must possess a degree and excellent written and spoken English skills. You will be self-motivated, organised, able to work well under pressure and a good team player. Above all, you must have a real commitment to providing a high quality information and support service to people affected by dementia.
