Job Details
Our client is a leading charity in the homeless sector, providing a range of accommodation and support services to homeless people across London. Working with various client groups, they aim to reduce harm from substances and work with external agencies to improve the quality of life for homeless people and promote independence. They are currently looking to recruit a temporary Housing First Worker to join their team in Islington. This assignment is offered for a minimum of three months.
As their Housing First Worker, you will support a caseload of clients who are street homeless to achieve independent and stable accommodation whilst following the Housing First model of practice. Offering a person centred support service; you will provide housing related support to people with repeat histories of homelessness and who present with multiple and complex needs. You will achieve this by offering advice, support and guidance that will support the charity's aim of preventing tenancy breakdown, improving quality of life and promoting independence. Specifically to this role, your caseload will be formed of five of Islington's most high profile and hard to engage clients with varying needs.
To be successful, you will possess demonstrable experience of working with clients who have extensive histories of homelessness combined with other additional, complex needs including mental health and substance misuse along with extensive knowledge and understanding of Housing First model. Due to the high support needs of the clients you will be supporting, you must have proven experience of supporting a caseload of hard to engage clients with the ability to work effectively with partner agencies and develop contract and networks across a range of local services. Finally, the ability to respond calmly to crisis is essential, as is the capability to effectively manage complex and challenging situations.
To be considered, you must be available immediately and be in possession of a fully enhanced DBS check that is registered to the online update service.
