About the role:
Our client is recruiting for a Management Accountant to join their Finance and Operations Department. This is a full-time, permanent role in their London office. You will be reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations and will have line management responsibility.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and post all month end journals, ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled, review restricted general donations, and ensure that the accounting system is reconciled to the fundraising database
- Produce monthly management accounts by the agreed timetable
- Produce quarterly financial reports and budget revision papers for the Audit & Finance Committee and Board, for review by the Director of Finance & Operations
- Maintain the chart of accounts and set of management reports. Ensure the management reports reconcile to the TB and set up new management reports as required
- Review information on the fundraising database; to ensure that it is uploaded into the accounting system each month, and that it is fully reconciled to bank. Follow-up and resolve any differences
- Produce statutory accounts and notes in conjunction with the Director of Finance & Operations. Prepare all audit working papers and be the day-to-day contact for external auditors
- Coordinate the budget revision process across the UK, including preparation of templates and supporting budget holders in completion. Prepare the consolidation and commentary for review by the Director of Finance & Operations, and upload budget revisions to the accounting system
- Support the Director of Finance & Operations in producing relevant financial analysis to aid decision making for budget holders, the Senior Management Team and Board of Trustees
- Prepare monthly payroll and liaise with outsourced payroll provider
- Support the Finance & Administration Assistant to ensure invoices are processed for payment on a timely basis and procurement procedures are adhered to
- Prepare returns as required and implement appropriate systems to ensure that VAT information is readily available
About you:
- A part or fully qualified accountant (e.g. CIMA, ACA, ACCA or CIPFA) or ‘qualified by experience’ – latter requires demonstrable evidence that experience is sufficient to override qualification criterion
- Advanced excel skills
- Practical experience of management accounting principles and techniques
- Practical experience of business planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting
- Experience of producing Finance papers for Senior Management Teams and Boards
- Good communication skills, particularly attuned to working well with non-financial staff
- Experience of business support role
- Experience of managing staff
