Ashden Sustainable solutions, better lives
Ashden believes that sustainable energy can have a transformative impact on individual lives worldwide. As well as being essential to tackling climate change, it also improves health and well-being, increases education opportunities and boosts local economies.
Ashden works in two key areas where it has identified the greatest need for urgent change and the most potential for impact - sustainable cities and energy for development. Using Ashden Award winners' stories and Ashden's knowledge and insights (from the ground up) it aims to be a global catalyst, influencing global players to recognise the potential of sustainable energy for all. By working directly with award-winning energy pioneers, creating networks, connecting them to finance and making targeted interventions on the ground Ashden aims to help catalyse and create local impact.
It is an exciting time join the organisation. Over the last 18 years we have established an incredible track record of highlighting and helping scale enterprises whose solutions and business models have been at the forefront of a global energy revolution. At the heart of that endeavour has been the Ashden Awards - widely regarded as the world's pre-eminent sustainable energy awards. We want to continue to play a meaningful role in helping the world tackle climate change and address energy access but we need to go further and we need to go faster.
This autumn Ashden launches a new strategy, with a mission to help accelerate the transformation of energy systems so that everyone across the globe, irrespective of geography or status, has access to sustainable energy. To maximise the impact of this new strategy we are looking for a visionary and inspiring CEO that can take a great team, a vitally important mission and a successful and effective organisation on further to influence change with the urgency that is required.
To be successful in this position you will be a mission-driven strategic leader with a background in the sustainability sector. You will have experience of leading and motivating a team and developing strategic relationships at national and international level with key influencers, funders and decision makers to promote the charity's aims and key messages. You will be a visionary, a creative thinker and a problem solver, good at running and inspiring a dedicated team and an ambitious strategy that wants to punch above its weight. You will be adept in public engagement and advocacy, writing articles, giving interviews and having a presence on social media, to help raise the profile of Ashden, its mission and Award winners.
