Caseworker / Support Worker (Family Engagement)

Our client is a National charity which support people affected by imprisonment. They work in prisons and communities across England and Wales to provide practical support to prisoners' children and families, and to prisoners themselves.

Position: Family Engagement Worker
Location: HMP Wandsworth, London
Job type: Full time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £22,000 per annum

About the role:

As Family Engagement Worker at HMP Wandsworth, you will work as one of the organisation's Family team, providing family casework support to prisoners, as well as support to the families of prisoners through advice and guidance and surgeries within the Visitors Centre, facilitating prison visits and delivering family induction sessions.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrable experience and understanding of working with families in a challenging multi-agency environment, ideally involving those with convictions and / or their families.

You will have experience of casework with service users, and of maintaining clear, up to date records. You will also have excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a demanding work load.

You will have the ability to contribute to planning and development of our client’s family work and also have knowledge of safeguarding / child protection practice.

Furthermore, you will have excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in build partnerships with a range of agencies.

Please note that being recently bankrupt or having County Court Judgements may affect your ability to be successfully vetted to work in a prison.
