Volunteer Coordinator 

Our client is a national charity that supports those affected by imprisonment and their children and families. 

Position: Volunteer Coordinator 
Location: Based at a CRC Office (Basingstoke, Southampton or Portsmouth) with extensive travel to locations across the Hamps and Thames Valley Area, with access to HMP Winchester, HMP Bullingdon and HMP Bronzefield 
Job type: Full time, Fixed Term Contract up to 31st October 2020
Hours: 37.5 hours per week 
Salary: £22,000 per annum

About the role: 

They’re looking for a Volunteer Co-Ordinator to work on their local Through the Gate Mentoring contract in the Hamps and Thames valley area as part of a new regional contract. Although you will have a central base within the CRC hub areas (Portsmouth, Southampton and Basingstoke) your role will involve regular travel in the Hamps, Surrey and Thames Valley area. 

About you: 

As a co-ordinator for the service locally, you will need to build and maintain effective relationships with prisons, Community Rehabilitation Companies and community agencies, ensuring successful referral and feedback mechanisms are in place and providing timely and regular information to the Service Manager with regards to targets, progress and issues.

The Through the Gate Mentoring Project provides support to prisoners leaving prison to enable them to resettle successfully back into their communities. The service will be delivered in the main by a team of trained and vetted volunteers. These mentors will report directly to the Volunteer Coordinator, who will work closely with Prison and community colleagues to promote the service and generate referrals of suitable participants from Prison staff as well as self-referrals from individuals who feel that they would benefit from their support. 

This post is subject to a 6 month probationary period, satisfactory references from previous employers covering 3 years, an Enhanced Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure, and Prison Security Check (National Police Computer Record).
