Major Donor Manager
Ref: MDM/ HQ
Based: WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre (HQ) - Commutable from Stroud, Bristol & Gloucester
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £35,780 per annum

This is a brand new role with the remit to develop and implement a strategy to raise income from high net worth individuals and grow this into a significant, reliable income stream for WWT – it’s a real opportunity for an experienced and ambitious fundraiser to make their mark. The Major Donor Manager will be highly visible, external-facing, and will collaborate with senior staff and volunteers to develop compelling and strategic propositions, inspiring high net worth individuals to support WWT’s work in the UK and internationally. They will deliver the highest level of stewardship, ensuring existing supporters feel valued and connected to the charity.

We are looking for an experienced major donor fundraiser who is able to build relationships at the highest level. With outstanding persuasion, negotiation and communication skills, and a track record of personally securing six figure gifts through both written and face-to-face asks, you will also be comfortable coaching and supporting others to make financial asks. You will have a solid understanding of the requirements for a successful major donor fundraising programme, including experience of identifying, engaging and stewarding prospective high net worth supporters, and the ability to manage pipelines and cultivation cycles.

Ideally this role will be based at Slimbridge, but some home working and/or hot-desking at another WWT Wetland Centre will also be considered.

The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is a conservation charity that protects wetlands for wildlife and people. We conserve, restore and create wetlands. We are pioneers in saving wetland wildlife, both in the UK and around the world. At our 10 UK sites over a million visitors a year engage with wetland nature. We work internationally in key global wetland areas, balancing conservation with sustainable livelihoods and influencing national and international conservation policies.

In return for your hard work and dedication you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service
  • Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
  • Life assurance
  • Free parking
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Free entry to all our centres

Closing Date: 22 October 2018
First Interview Date: 31 October 2018
Second Interview Date: 8 November 2018
