Disability Rights UK has a vacancy for a Business Development Manager. The aim of the role is to develop new income generation opportunities, and manage existing DR UK commercial initiatives.

Purpose of role

To develop new income generation opportunities, as well as managing existing Disability Rights UK commercial initiatives; to build unrestricted income through growing training and consultancy and marketing of content/publishing and sponsorship; and to ensure effective delivery of commercial operations. The Business Development Manager will be responsible for meeting revenue targets by:

  • Turning our expertise into revenue
  • Securing corporate contracts in line with our charitable objectives
  • Marketing and other sales initiatives for our content/publications
  • Turning our website reach into income through ethical partnerships

Salary

Starting salary £35K - £40K

Location

Disability Rights UK is based at Plexal, 14 East Bay Lane, Here East, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford, London E20 3BS. The post is based at this office. Flexible working arrangements and one or two days remote working each week are standard for all DR UK employees.

Job Description

Main responsibilities

  • Manage and grow Disability Rights UK’s training and consultancy work
  • Secure commercial partnerships, research contracts, corporate sponsors and advertising
  • Research markets and identify new products and services, working with colleagues to explore initiatives that utilise their teams’ expertise
  • Develop and market new profitable ventures that fit with DR UK’s mission, vision and values
  • Manage and develop a network of Disability Rights UK Associates, ensuring client feedback is used to assure quality
  • Support the promotion and marketing of Disability Rights UK’s publications
  • Manage Disability Rights UK’s key promotional events, including the Jack Ashley Memorial Lecture

Other

  • Produce financial and management information for DR UK Senior Management Team, Board and as required
  • Liaise with policy and other management colleagues to support other income generation activities
  • Contribute material to other bids and tenders as required
