Our client is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families, offering them care and support every step of the way. Position: Social Worker 
Location: Plymouth – Derriford Hospital 
Job Type: Part Time, Temporary 18 month contract 
Hours: 24 hours per week 
Salary: £33,755 per annum (FTE)

About the role: 

We are looking for a qualified and experienced Social Worker to provide support to children and young people diagnosed with cancer and leukaemia and their families. The work is rewarding but also complex and demanding; you will need to be resourceful and resilient. 

You will work closely with our client's supportive team, established NHS Multi-Disciplinary Teams at both Truro and Plymouth Hospitals and with services in the community. 

About You: 

As well as current GSCC/ HCPC registration you will have: 

-Experience working with children, young people and their families/carers in a social care setting 
-Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment 
-Knowledge of child and young people development 
-An understanding of the impact of serious illness for children, young people and families. 

It is desirable that you have experience working in an NHS setting. 

This post is home based with access to desk space. As this post will provide a direct social work service to children with cancer and their families who live in Cornwall, Plymouth and the surrounding areas, a clean driving license and access to a car is essential.
