Head of Marketing and Communications
Prospectus is delighted to be partnering with The Operational Research Society to recruit their new Head of Communications and Marketing.The Head of Marketing and Communications will lead a team of three staff in developing, implementing, and measuring membership, along with public-facing marketing and communications strategies and campaigns.
With members in 53 countries, the organisation provides training, conferences, publications and information to those working in operational research, as well as providing information about operational research to interested members of the general public.
Reporting to the Secretary and General Manager, the successful candidate will work to enhance the society's communication with existing members, raise awareness of the organisation, and support initiatives to increase members and retention. Alongside managing three direct reports, day to day duties will include researching, developing, implementing and measuring marketing and communications strategies, as well as executing mainstream and social media advertising campaigns. You will be responsible for setting annual production schedules for print and digital projects, including the monthly membership magazine. You will also assist the editor with advertising for the biannual public facing magazine. Other key duties will involve drafting and designing communications materials including web pages, leaflets, direct emails, and videos.
To be considered for this role it is essential to have experience of managing a small team, with demonstrable experience of delivering successful marketing and communications projects. You will have a broad mix of skills in print, digital media, and four colour print process, along with the ability to build relationships at a senior level . The placed candidate will have digital marketing experience with an understanding of Google analytics, SEO and PPC advertising, including use of CRM systems and social media platforms. You are required to have excellent writing abilities with experience of writing and designing for a variety of audiences. You must also be proficient in Adobe programmes such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Mailchimp. A professional marketing qualification and an understanding of operational research is desirable.
You will have the opportunity for occasional travel across the UK; flexibility to undertake this will be required.
