This is a rare opportunity to work on some of the most important issues of our generation.

Unicef ensures more of the world’s children are vaccinated, educated and protected than any other organisation. We have done more to influence laws and policies to help protect children than anyone else. We get things done. And we’re not going to stop until the world is a safe place for all our children.

The Media Relations team is responsible for all media and public relations work on Unicef UK’s activities. Our News and Emergencies team covers some of the most important issues of our generation, including the global refugee crisis, the Syria crisis, and many more emergencies that affect children.

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Media and Communications Manager.  As a senior member of the Media Relations team, you will lead Unicef UK’s strategic thinking and delivery, leading the strategic thinking and delivery on our response to emerging news stories, the communication of our advocacy priorities and our response to breaking and ongoing disasters and emergencies. You can expect to manage high level relationships with news editors across all UK media. You will also manage a small team to deliver to effective, ambitious and well-messaged multi-media coverage and response on our news and emergency work.

To succeed in this role, you will have a strong track record of developing, implementing and evaluating high profile media strategies and securing effective coverage, as well as extensive experience as the lead contact for news journalists, producers and senior stakeholders, both internal and external. You will also be experienced in managing staff in a public relations agency or in-house media communications team.

Act now and visit www.unicef.org.uk/jobs to find out more and apply online.

Closing date: 5pm, Monday 15 October 2018.

Interview date: Thursday 25 October 2018.

We welcome applications from a diverse range of people, respecting and drawing on different perspectives, skills, experience and knowledge.

The successful candidate will be required to apply for a Basic Disclosure from Disclosure Scotland. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from working with us. This will depend on the nature of the role and the circumstances of your offences.

We only accept online applications as this saves us money, making more funds available for us to help ensure children’s rights.

If you require support in completing the online form or an application form in an alternative format, please contact Supporter Care on 0300 330 5580 during working hours.

If you do not hear from us within 14 days of the closing date, please assume your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion. Please note that we only provide feedback to shortlisted candidates.
