Location: Burghfield Common, Reading

Hours: 35 hours per week (part time considered)

Working pattern: 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday

Are you an organised individual with great interpersonal skills and a flair for building relationships?

An exciting opportunity has presented itself for a Legacy Case Officer to become an integral member of the Legacy team within Fundraising. The Legacy Case Officer will be responsible for administering Guide Dogs relationship within charitable bequests, which can offer a broad range of challenges and be incredibly rewarding, being key to ensuring a supporter’s generous bequest is received and put to work supporting our work.

About the role:

You will be responsible for a share of the charity’s legacy cases, which account for over £45M each year.

 You will be comfortable liaising with Solicitors, Executors and Next of Kin, be able to analyse the Estate/Trust Accounts, carefully examining their actions, recommendations and omissions, ensuring all estate assets have been accounted for to ensure that Guide Dogs receives the best outcome from the gift it has been left.

You will be a confident, flexible, self-motivated, enthusiastic and well-organised individual, able to manage competing priorities, with knowledge of inheritance tax, Probate Law and the Fundraising Regulator Code of Practice for Legacies.

In your application, you will need to evidence, using specific examples, how your skills and experience meet the criteria laid out in the person specification, within the Job Description below.

Requirements include;

  • Strong analytical skills, proactive investigation of complex issues and ability to assess risk against benefit to reach a well-rounded conclusion
  • Significant experience of Estate administration gained within a bank, firm or solicitors of another major charity
  • A high level of knowledge of the law pertaining to Wills, Taxation, Probate and Trusts.
