The University of Cambridge seeks an outstanding individual for the position of Senior Associate Director, Arts & Humanities. This is an exceptional opportunity for a senior fundraiser who is interested in funding world class research and teaching in the Arts and Humanities.

The University of Cambridge publicly launched its £2 billion campaign in October of last year; it is the biggest and most ambitious Europe has ever seen. The campaign will enable Cambridge to address some of the biggest issues facing society today, and make a major impact on the world in the 21st century.  It will ensure the University’s research and teaching stays at the cutting edge by providing world-class infrastructure and attracting great minds to study and work across the University and Colleges, meaning the University can continue to thrive and serve society at large.

The Senior Associate Director for the School of Arts & Humanities will play a leading role in this, European higher education’s most momentous campaign.  The School of Arts & Humanities is undertaking some of the University’s most interesting and varied research, encompassing areas such as the societal impacts of artificial intelligence to Islamic art, film studies, sustainable cities, the philosophy of hate speech, the politics of sport and gender in the classical world.

With responsibility for the design, management and execution of the University’s major gifts fundraising strategy for the School, the postholder will be a senior member of the Major Gifts team. S/he will raise significant financial support for the University’s fundraising priorities, generating six- and seven-figure gifts from individuals, trusts and foundations, and corporations in the UK and internationally.

The University of Cambridge seeks an exceptional candidate for this position who will possess the following essential knowledge and skills: proven track record in major gift fundraising and/or management of key relationships with the specific donor constituency (internationally based high net worth individuals, corporates or trusts & foundations respectively); a proven track record of securing major gifts/income; demonstrable capacity to analyse, think critically, strategically and to innovate; demonstrable ability to build empathetic relations with high net worth individuals; outstanding negotiation and communication skills, credible across a variety of audiences; culturally sensitive; a strong natural drive to go out into the field; a successful track record of operating at a senior level with multiple stakeholders and an ability to relate effectively to the academic community and its aims.

This role is based in central Cambridge.

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
