Job Title:  Trusts and Foundations Officer

Hours / contract:  40 hours per week / permanent

Salary:  circa £30-£34K, depending on experience, plus benefits

Location:  Southampton (some flexibility may be discussed for the right candidate)

We are working in partnership with Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST), an international, UN-accredited charity with a bold and exciting mission to give people of all abilities and circumstances the freedom to explore their ability, potential and place in the world through inclusive adventures at sea.

The charity has a uniquely powerful formula for transforming the lives of their beneficiaries, who may include individuals with physical impairments or long term health issues, learning disabilities or difficulties, those dealing with mental health issues, loneliness or social isolation, economic disadvantage or other social prejudices.

Since the charity began in 1978, over 50,000 people have sailed on JST’s two unique, purpose built tall ships, the STS Lord Nelson and SV Tenacious.

An exciting opportunity has now arisen for an experienced Trusts and Foundations Officer to join the team at JST and take on responsibility for the development and delivery of an annual portfolio of Trust and Foundations applications; provision of excellent stewardship of existing donors; and the identification and cultivation of new relationships to ultimately bring in long term, significant funding to support the Trust’s activities.

In order to succeed in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Direct experience of preparing high quality written work in a professional environment
  • A recent track record of success in raising funds from trusts, foundations and other funders
  • Evidence of making successful funding applications to Lottery and Statutory Funders
  • Experience of using a range of fundraising researching tools and techniques
  • Experience of preparing and monitoring work plans and budgets
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills, and an eye for detail
  • Working knowledge of current fundraising legislation, including GDPR

You will be self-motivated and organised with the ability to time manage, handle changing priorities and work to tight deadlines.  Proactive and results driven, you will be a natural communicator with a strong work ethic and a willingness to occasionally work outside normal office hours.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person. Our client is looking to interview suitable candidates ASAP.  To apply please submit your CV (Word document) and supporting statement as soon as possible to info@charismarecruitment.co.uk quoting our reference JO1579.

For any further information, please contact Philippa Bryant, Recruitment Consultant on 01962 813300 or email info@charismarecruitment.co.uk quoting our reference JO1579.

Some feedback from a candidate we have successfully placed:

“Now I have been in my new post for a week, I feel I must write to you to commend you on both the recruitment process I have just undergone and the personal support I have received. I could not have expected a better experience of a recruitment process - and even had I not been appointed I would have written in the same vein. I can understand why Charisma was recommended to me by a friend and I will certainly do the same in the future.”
