This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work as a Helpline Support Officer. It is ideal for someone skilled in providing person-centred emotional support, information or counselling.

– 2 X Helpline Support Officer (1 fixed term, 1 part-time maternity cover)

Salary – circa £28,900 p.a., pro-rata for part-timers, plus excellent benefits
Hours - between 9am and 7pm, Monday to Friday, working shifts are up to 8 hours with appropriate breaks

About this job

N.B. These posts are both fixed term positions. One post is 35 hours per week for 9-12 months, the other post is a maternity cover for 6-8 months, 28 hours per week.

Proven experience working on a national helpline would be beneficial. Reporting to the Senior Helpline Support Officer you will provide confidential emotional support and information to people affected by MS. You will provide this service by telephone, email, social media, and face-to-face using the person-centred approach.

As a Helpline Support Officer you will need to provide emotional support, assess the information needs of callers, provide evidence-based, up-to-date information, use appropriate signposting and, where relevant, refer to professionals, other organisations or other internal staff. You will create accurate and timely records of enquiries using the software provided.

You will be joining the charity at an exciting stage of its development and this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a supportive and friendly team.
