Job Details
With over 11,000 members, the Association represents the life-changing profession of anaesthesia, the largest medical specialty in the NHS. We are the national membership body for anaesthetists at all stages of their career throughout the whole of the UK & Ireland. The Association is formed of two organisations that work closely together: the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland, and its charitable arm, the AAGBI Foundation. We publish a world class scientific journal, fund research and provide lifelong learning and education for clinicians. Our advocacy and campaigns work is making an impact in influencing health policy and raising the profile of anaesthesia. We have ambitious change plans, including a recent rebrand and a target of being fully digital by 2020.
The new role of Chief Operating Officer will lead on the financial management of the Association, but it is much more than a pure finance role. This post will lead a programme of change and transformation across digital, business systems & processes and commercial development. The position requires significant strategic thinking, innovation and commercial acumen, in order to analyse and improve operating areas including income diversification, investment management and property strategy. The position will be an integral member of our small, effective and collaborative Senior Management Team.
You will currently be working at a senior level, possessing a finance and/or business qualification. You will be commercially minded and proactive, with strong leadership skills. You will have the ability to manage a finance function and business transformation, with a keen eye for the commercial health of the organisation. You'll be knowledgeable about business development and strategic finance in a not for profit organisation. Experience in a small but complex organisation would be beneficial, and you will be someone who thrives in a professional environment where collaborative team-working and business partnering are essential. This role represents a unique opportunity to play a key role in an ambitious organisation going through a period of strategic and operational change.
To request an information pack or to clarify any details, please contact Jamie Reynolds, Brigitte Stundner or Rob Hayter at TPP on: +44 (0) 207 198 6050 or email anaesthetists@tpp.co.uk. The closing date for applications is Friday 19th October at 9am.
