Leading our dedicated team of fundraisers, you’ll have overall responsibility for developing our fundraising through appeals, legacies, major gifts, corporates & trusts to achieve identified targets for growth.

Founded in 1933 BTO delivers rigorous scientific evidence about our wild bird populations and how they are faring. These are exciting times for the BTO which, following a period of strategic review has not only recommitted to rigorous scientific impact but also to a programme of ambitious community engagement.

Much of our work is done in partnership with volunteer birdwatchers who contribute data through our long-term surveys and schemes. The results of our work are used by many different stakeholders to inform conservation action, planning decisions and land management approaches.

In 2017/18 charitable income through donations grants and corporate partnerships contributed circa £1.5M to our work, playing a vital role in enabling us to deliver our mission.

You’ll be expected to develop and implement a realistic but ambitious income generation strategy and to use your influencing skills to successfully engage colleagues with the strategy.  You’ll be experienced at analysing and interpreting fundraising data and you’ll deliver insightful reports to the senior leadership team on a regular basis.  You’ll have strong people management skills and the ability to inspire others while not shying away from difficult

This post is a full-time permanent position located at our Head Office in Thetford with the opportunity to work occasionally from the David Attenborough Building in Cambridge.
