Cognus Ltd is about education - we exist to support schools, families and children/young people to access, enjoy and thrive in educational settings in school and in the community. We are a successful start up that spun out from the London Borough of Sutton in November 2016 as a stand alone limited company. Our main shareholder remains the London Borough of Sutton, but we also invite schools to become shareholders in our company.
Our services are structured into three main areas:
Advice and Support - working with schools and families to support children and young people to access and enjoy education, at school, at home or in other settings
Access - providing teaching and educational psychology expertise to support teachers, teaching assistants, parents/carers and others in developing their practice and confidence, and working with small groups or individual children and young people to understand and support their particular needs and talents.
SEN - supporting those with special educational needs, their families/carers and schools to provide advice, advocacy and training as well as the provision of home to school transport and other practical help.
Cognus Ltd are now looking for a Head of Finance & Corporate Resources to provide leadership and management of the company's Finance, with resources and administration function, including finance, ICT, premises and procurement.
As a member of the senior management team, the Head of Finance & Corporate Resources will be responsible for leading the company's resources and commercial operation and major change and transformation projects.
They will lead on managing the financial teams within the company, including the Cognus finance team and the High Needs Block budget, which is administered by an internal team on behalf of the London Borough of Sutton.
The successful candidate will be a qualified Accountant, having experience in business leadership and commercial operations, with strong ICT and advanced problem-solving capabilities, they will be professional, thorough and detail oriented.
