SEN Teaching Assistant / Care Support Worker (College)

Our client is a charity which provides high quality specialist care and education to individuals with epilepsy and severe neurological conditions. Due to an increase in their student numbers they are looking for individuals to join the established team of support workers in their College whose role takes them into the classroom as well as providing care and support to learners who live on site with them. The organisation is based just outside Much Hadham, in a lovely parkland location.

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant / Care Support Worker (College)
Location: Perry Green, Much Hadham, Hertfordshire (Commutable from Bishop’s Stortford, Harlow, Saffron Walden, Stevenage, St Albans and surrounding areas)
Job type: Full Time, Permanent
Hours: Full and part time hours, with a mixture of early and late shifts (07:15 to 14:45 and 14:15 to 21:45 with 20 minutes paid break). Some weekend work is required (2 in 4 weekends). Full time workers work 5 shifts per week (37.5 hours).
Salary: £17,859 to £20,219 per annum plus weekend enhancements and overtime opportunities

About the role:

You will be working with their inspirational learners (19 to 25 years old). This role offers lots of variety, working in the classroom as well as supporting learners to develop their everyday living skills, develop independence, and enable them to access a range of activities in the wider community. You would also assist and provide personal care.

About you:

Previous experience or a qualification is not essential as full, free ongoing training is provided as well as a comprehensive induction to the Centre, and the role.

The organisation offers encouragement and opportunity for development and further qualifications - they offer a level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care (learning disability pathway) and / or relevant qualifications in learning.

If you are new to care and / or an education support role and do not have a relevant qualification, you would start with them on £17,459. With a level 2 qualification the salary range is up to £20,219.

All staff are required to have an enhanced DBS, the cost of which is paid by the Centre.

You must be aged 18 or over before you start work with our client. Please note they are not on a public transport route.
