Job Details

The Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN) is a UK-registered charity offering funding (Awards) and media profiles to inspiring leaders of wildlife conservation projects across the Global South. They support pragmatic, sustainable and long-lasting work rooted in science and community involvement. The charity funds projects directly and remains in regular contact with its winners. WFN also raises awareness of the serious problems facing wildlife and their habitat through promoting the work of winners. They focus support on nationals (leaders who were either born to the country where they work or have gained nationality) and aim to build the capacity of successful local NGOs and grassroots work. WFN fund mainly in Africa, Asia and South/Latin America where income is often hardest to raise and can have the biggest impact for people and biodiversity.

We are delighted to be working with WFN to recruit a Grants Manager to manage their international grants programmes across the Global South including the Whitley Award & Continuation Funding application assessment, monitoring and evaluation of active grants and the development of a 200-strong global winner network.

This role will involve managing applications throughout the full cycle from application to award and post award monitoring and evaluation of projects. Assessing written and financial reports, developing relationships with the winner network and leading on impact assessment will all be core components of this role. The person will also represent WFN at conferences, talks and seminars and will be the first point of contact for all winners.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable grants management experience in a similar environmental NGO and hold a MSc in a relevant subject (e.g Conservation/Zoology or Environmental Science). A demonstrable understanding of grassroots conservation projects, issues and solutions will be very important, as will excellent written skills, budgeting and database experience and outstanding interpersonal skills. Proficiency in all MS Office products will be important in addition to a positive, can-do approach. This role represents a fantastic opportunity to make a difference for someone with a knowledge and passion for wildlife conservation.
