Female Support Worker (Charity / Learning Disabilities)

Our client is a national charity that’s been supporting people with learning disabilities since 1962. They put the people they support at the centre of everything they do and use their experience to work in partnership with them to provide personalised services to more than 3,000 people. 

They currently have vacancies available for two Support Workers to join their Orchard View service based in Bidford-on-Avon, supporting female adults with learning disabilities to live the best life possible. 

Position: Female Support Worker (This post is covered by The Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1, Occupational Requirements) 
Location: Bidford-on-Avon, Worcestershire 
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 per week 
Hourly rate: £7.83 aged 21+ or £7.66 ages 18-20, both rising to £8.12 on successful completion of probation and Health & Social Care Diploma/NVQ Level 2

About the role: 

Orchard View is a well-designed, registered care service offering access throughout for people who use wheelchairs or have mobility difficulties. 

They provide support from personal care, home activities and accessing leisure, supporting individuals to ensure they can participate as much as possible. 

Here are some examples of the things you may be required to support with; art therapy, sensory experiences, shopping, hydrotherapy, visiting health professionals, relaxation and therapy exercises, concerts, cinema, holidays and other things individuals may like to experience. 

They provide 24/7 support to some people, hours for this position will range between 06:00 to 22:00 hrs on a rota basis. If the person theysupport requires waking night assistance, they would require staff to undertake the occasional sleep-in duty also. 

About you: 

You don’t need experience of support work or any special qualifications for this job – you’ll get plenty of training along the way. It’s great if you already have experience of learning disabilities, autism or dementia, but this is by no means essential. What matters most is your positive attitude to life and your desire to support people to live their life with as much independence, choice, dignity and control as possible.
