Our client is a Housing Association 6,500 homes working across East Surrey and Sussex. They build homes for those that can’t meet their housing needs in the market and in doing so they help them change their lives..
They are currently seeking an Income Officer to join their head office based in Redhill, Surrey. The main purpose of this role is to assist in protecting their income and supporting customers to successfully maintain their tenancies.
Within this role, you will proactively manage around 1200 rent accounts, focusing on the prevention of arrears cases and early intervention as well as managing more serious cases through to court action and eviction and you will work with customers to negotiate reasonable payment plans to clear rent arrears or other debts when they do occur. You will process arrears cases, ensuring you review each case individually, issue appropriate legal notices and work closely and proactively with customers to prevent arrears.
The successful candidate will have previous experience of working within a rent/housing income environment with knowledge of arrears management. You will have excellent customer service skills and a good working knowledge of Housing and other benefits, particularly Universal Credit and other welfare reforms. You will be a skilled communicator who can build effective working relationships and you will have an open-minded approach, enabling you to adapt to different customer needs. It is essential that you have a proactive approach to delivering results and that you understand the importance of focusing on the “can-do”.
