Part Time

Would you like the opportunity to make a difference to the future direction of Samaritans? Could you be a Trustee for this unique organisation that is working to reduce suicide across the UK and Republic of Ireland?

At Samaritans, our vision is that fewer people die by suicide.  We believe it is preventable and that by working together we can give people the support they need before they reach crisis point. With more than 20,000 trained volunteers in 201 branches and 150 paid staff members, we offer a unique 24-hour listening service, run peer support in prisons, work in local communities, provide information and education, run campaigns to raise awareness and bring our messages to policy-makers.

Last year, we answered a call for help every six seconds and reached more than half a million people through our work in local communities. Yet we know there are many people who we don’t currently reach with our service. At the same time, the way that people want to access our support is changing, so we need to adapt and innovate to respond to evolving needs.

That’s why we’ve launched a major transformation programme called There for Everyone, which aims to make it easier for people to get in touch when they need us, in the way that suits them best, and to make sure that volunteers have the support they need to deliver Samaritans service, now and in the future.

We are currently looking to complement our current Board of Trustees with dynamic people who have a passion for the work of Samaritans. We need Trustees who can provide strategic leadership and governance to ensure we deliver our vision and live up to our mission and values.
