Job Details

A customer focused charity are keen to find a motivated Senior Press Officer to design and deliver integrated media relations and PR strategies which support business priorities and the objectives of the communications strategy.

In this role you will be building awareness and reputation of the organisation with key media stakeholders, ensuring cut through in the national, regional, lifestyle and trade media. And, with the Press Officer, having day-to-day responsibility for the effective operation of the Press Office function.


Key responsibilities will include:

Developing and maintaining strong media relationships across consumer, corporate and trade journalists
Briefing the chief executive and directors on media strategy, day-to-day media issues, and preparing them for media interviews
Establishing the organisation as an authoritative voice on financial capability, promoting our approach to delivering through others, and advocating for our customers in the media
Working closely with the Digital (Editorial) team to ensure a joined-up approach to consumer communications, and ensuring that PR activities are amplified through social media and digital channels


In order to apply for this role you will have the following experience:

Account manager level or in-house equivalent
Strong media relations and PR capabilities learned through management of multiple and complex consumer and corporate PR campaigns
Proactive and robust, able to anticipate business requirements and media responses
Experience of operating in a complex corporate organisation, subject to significant public scrutiny
Experience of working in cross-functional teams on integrated campaigns involving marketing, public affairs and social media
First class written communication skills, with strong ability to write press releases, responses and by-lined articles
