Support Worker (Family Support) 

Our client is a national charity that supports those affected by imprisonment and their children and families. 

Position: Family Support Worker 
Location: HMP Long Lartin, Wychavon, Worcestershire (Commutable from Stratford-upon-Avon, Evesham, Royal Leamington Spa, Worcester, Tewkesbury, and surrounding areas) 
Job type: Part Time, Permanent 
Hours: 3 to 13 hours per week (available for job share) 
Salary: £8.75 per hour (pro rata)

About the role: 

As Family Support Worker at HMP Long Lartin you will work as one of the family team, you will be based primarily in the prison’s visitor centre and visits hall providing support, advice and guidance to families visiting prisoners, facilitating prison visits and family days and supporting the play service. 

About you: 

To be successful in this role you will have demonstrable experience and understanding of working with families in a challenging multi-agency environment, ideally involving offenders and / or their families. 

You will also have excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a demanding work load. 

You will have the ability to contribute to planning and development of our client’s family work and also have knowledge of safeguarding / child protection practice. 

You will be able to provide warm, human support and to ensure that children, families and prisoners are treated with respect, dignity and courtesy.

Other information:

This post is subject to a 6-month probationary period, verification of identity and proven right to work in the UK, satisfactory HMPPS / MoJ Security Vetting and satisfactory employer references covering a minimum of 3 years. 

This post will involve flexible weekdays and weekend work.
