Our client is the UK's leading dementia charity. They provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia. 

Position: Dementia Adviser 
Location: Olton, Solihul, West Midlands 
Contract type: Full time, Permanent 
Hours: 35 per week 
Salary: £20,345 actual per annum

About the role: 

Our client's strategy ‘New Deal on Dementia’; commits to reaching out to everyone affected by dementia from people being concerned about their memory to the point of diagnosis and then to be available throughout the dementia journey. 

This will be achieved by their innovative new delivery model Dementia Connect which has 4 main elements:- 

- Tier 1 - specialist telephone based information and navigation service 
- Tier 2 - face to face service offering an increased level of support for more complex cases. 
- Keeping in Touch Calls - a way of keeping in contact with service users as their journey with dementia progresses 
- Side by Side - volunteer led service to support people to undertake activities in the community

As a Tier 1 Dementia Adviser you will be the first point of contact via phone, letter, email or social media, for people affected by dementia assessing their needs and identifying desired outcomes. 

You will provide highly responsive, individualised information and signposting service to people with a diagnosis of dementia as the first priority for the service and provide an extended information and signposting service to immediate carers, families and friends of the people who are referred to the service. 

About you: 

They are looking for someone who possess an NVQ level 3 or equivalent in health and social care related subject, has an understanding of the needs of people with dementia and their carers and able to provide excellent service by telephone and email with active listening and questioning skills. 

You will have knowledge of working alongside of volunteers and have an understanding of the valuable contribution volunteers bring to services whilst championing their inclusion in all that they deliver. 

The Tier 1 Dementia Adviser will be the first point of contact for people accessing the Dementia Connect service in Wales and offer support bilingually. As such there is a requirement for the post holder to be able to speak Welsh.
