The Royal Horticultural Society has been the force behind gardening for more than 200 years.  Best known for our world famous flower shows and gardens, our charitable work is diverse and includes connecting millions of children with nature through the RHS Campaign for School Gardening, supporting RHS Britain in Bloom, and conducting pioneering horticultural science research.

We believe everyone in every village, town and city should benefit from growing plants to enhance lives, build stronger, healthier, happier communities and create better places to live.  We want to enrich everyone’s life through plants and make the UK a greener and more beautiful place. The RHS has recently launched a major investment programme, which includes a range of exciting new capital and operational projects. As part of this we are creating a brand new 5^th RHS Garden at Bridgewater in Salford, which will open in summer 2020.

We are looking for a Senior Philanthropy Manager, ideally based as part of a small team at Bridgewater, to lead the fundraising campaign to raise a further £6m from a variety of major income streams, in particular from major donors, companies and trusts and foundations, to allow us to create the garden.

Building on a strong existing national network of trusts & foundations, major donors and companies, your role will be to help us expand our local networks and manage the cultivation and engagement process to secure significant funding from high net worth individuals, companies and other trusts. Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy in London, you will be part of a small but growing team based at the new garden.  Other options include some home working or the option to be based in London with weekly travel to Bridgewater.

This exciting role offers the opportunity to further develop a new fundraising network for the RHS and you will be a proactive fundraiser who can confidently communicate our plans across the North West.
